As we approach the launch of the new iLearningGlobal TV 2.0 Sites in the coming days and continue to put the finishing touch on the many new features, there are specifically 3 main features that will make your experience more advanced, efficient, and focused.
I wanted to include some overview details on these features as well as provide links to a few well known web portals that are effectively using the same functionality to help illustrate.
Categories, Tags, & Search
To illustrate what we are doing with Category and Tag search functionality I’d like to use ZDNet’s website as an example.
ZDNet is a leading IT news and blog site. Once you click on the link below and arrive at the ZDNet home page you will notice a red navigation bar across the top of the page that contains their 6 main categories.
If you put your mouse over the “Popular” category you will notice that a sub-navigation menu appears with 4 main sub-categories and dozens of Tags under each of those.
This is a great illustration on how we are organizing all of the iLearningGlobal content into Categories and Tags for you to easily navigate to your areas of interest from the homepage nav bar.
Above the red nav bar you will also notice a search field that allows you to quickly search for your topics of interest within the ZDNet site.
Try entering the search term “google phone” into the search field and then click enter. As a result, you will see every post or content piece that contains information about the new Nexus One Google Phone.
The search on the new iLearningGlobal site works similarly with content search and allows you to search your areas of interest and quickly arrive at your targeted content.

Related Items
The related items feature will greatly enhance the way that you use the website and focus on targeted areas of study.
At the end of every content post page there will be a section called “Related Items” that provides you links to 5 content pieces that are similar in nature and topic.
For a good illustration of how this works, go to the link below. At the end of the msnbc article you will see a box titled “MORE FROM INFECTIOUS DISEASES” that contains links to multiple similar content pieces on the site.

Featured & Recent Content
The Featured and Recent Content feature is an exciting new feature in that it allows us to make sure you see the most recently added, most watched, and weekly featured content the second you log-in to the site as a member.
A great example of how this is used is the home page of Wall Street Journal Magazine’s website.
Click the link below and you will see a feature rich home page that demonstrates a large graphic sliding feature area at the top left of the page.
Above that you will see the “WSJ HOT TOPICS”. Directly below the graphic feature area you will see 8-10 main features with thumbnails that show the most recent and most viewed content on the site. In the right side bar of the page it’s also good to take note of “Most Popular” area and the “Video Features” area.
